The goal of the GFWC Signature Program: Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness and Prevention is to increase awareness of and help prevent the widespread occurrence of domestic abuse and violence against women in communities across the nation by working with national domestic violence networks, supporting existing activities, working with various established programs, and initiating educational opportunities for club members and local citizens.  GFWC is a powerful voice for those who have no voice.

The main focus of this committee is the support of People’s Place, an organization that provides a variety of programs and services to families, adults and children of lower Delaware.  The Safe Program at People’s Place provides a safe environment, shelter, and support for women and children in domestic violence situations in Kent and Sussex Counties. The Group Home for Girls provides a home-like environment for abused and/or neglected teenage girls in the foster care system, ages 13 to 17, with an emphasis on independent living skills.
